The Brownsville Animal Regulation & Care (BARC) facility is located in the fast-growing metropolis of the lower Rio Grande valley near the Mexican border. Operating under dual control between the Humane Society and Animal Control, this shelter is funded by two sources: private and public. Serving an animal population over 12,000 per year, this shelter focuses on increasing their adoptions. The Adoption Mall is the primary design feature with colorful animal arches, natural light and educational exhibitory. The animals are displayed through creative viewing ports in a comfortable environment.
