The Children’s Museum of Houston expansion includes more exhibition, public support and educational office space as well as more parking. This included the addition of a three-level exhibit building, a separate three-story administration building, and a parking deck over existing surface parking with solar-powered lighting. The iconic color, pattern and scale of the original Binz facade was extended to the new wing, which has 22,000 square feet of exhibit space and a covered roof terrace for outdoor exhibit and play area. The remaining space is dedicated to education staff and docents, loading, storage, and support facilities. The Allen Family Courtyard provides flexibility while preserving the existing eco-station exhibit.
