Located on a rural knoll at the end of a meandering alleé of 200-year-old oak trees, this 20,000 square foot facility serves the homeless animal population of Forsyth County in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The pastoral setting gives the shelter a serene dignity that paired with its agrarian architectural features creates a connotation of being a safe haven for all animals. Emphasis is placed on animal adoptions with the colorful and odor-free central Adoption Mall with overhead skylights providing natural light for the animals housed inside. Circulation is easily defined to aid the staff in efficient operational procedures. This shelter is an asset to the community.
