The adaptive reuse of the historically certified 1884 Lone Star Brewery for the San Antonio Museum of Art was completed in 1981 by Cambridge Seven Associates. Since its opening, the museum has continued to expand within the existing brewery context and has acquired adjacent properties. In 2001, Jackson & Ryan prepared a master plan addressing the immediate needs of the museum for the next five years and is evaluating alternative options for long-term growth and the impact of the completion of the San Antonio River improvements, which created a new public entry from the north.
