Jackson & Ryan Architects
performed needs assessment, programming, master planning, design, and construction services for the new parish
of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, set on 25 acres in Hempstead, Texas. The project consists of 2 phases.
The first provides a new 600-seat sanctuary with expansion capabilities, a 40-seat day chapel, a 7,200-square
foot Parish Hall, and related site work nestled in a rural setting. The second expands the Sanctuary's seating
capacity to 1000, provides a new administrative building, multipurpose building, open athletic pavilion, and
athletic playing fields. The design aesthetic incorporated the goal of preserving a rural setting and utilized
design elements and materials, which connect to the Texas vernacular.
