Jose Rosales, AIA, Principal

Born and raised in Del Rio, Texas, Jose Rosales discovered architecture by watching his father, a brick mason, at work and becoming fascinated with how buildings come together, piece by piece. That early exposure to craftsmanship shaped both his curiosity and his respect for the built environment. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2004 and Master of Architecture in 2008 from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Jose’s time in Italy during his semester abroad was one of the most inspiring experiences of his architectural education, giving him the opportunity to study the work of the masters, deepening his appreciation for how architecture can carry history, beauty, and meaning across generations.

Since joining Jackson & Ryan Architects in 2012, Jose has developed a strong portfolio spanning education, religious, and institutional design, with experience from master planning and programming, and from design through construction administration. His work includes multiple campus master plans, the new Agee Hall STEM Building, Loyola Hall and Moran Hall Renovation at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. Renovations and additions at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church's Westheimer and Gethsemane Campuses He was the project architect for the Mosing Middle School Building and Sarofim Leadership Center Building at River Oaks Baptist Church and School. Across this diverse body of work, Jose brings a thoughtful approach to design, a strong command of building systems, and a high level of technical coordination.

Known for his calm demeanor, steady leadership, and strong technical expertise, Jose is respected by colleagues, consultants, and clients alike. He is energized by the collaborative process of architecture and takes pride in helping transform ideas into buildings that meaningfully serve clients and the people who use, experience, and visit them every day. Outside the office, he enjoys puzzles, travel, running, the outdoors, and spending time with his growing family, Dolores, Paloma, Sabina and their dog, Mobi.
