San Antonio, Texas
Jackson & Ryan prepared a comprehensive master plan intended to improve the quality and organization of the San Antonio Museum of Art's collections and programs, and to develop a logical sequence for future growth. The recommended plan for the near term (five years) included maximizing art storage space, reorganizing administrative areas, relocating the facilities department and making improvements to a temporary exhibit facility that allow for protected art loading, exhibit preparation and art storage. Long-term planning (25 years) included expansion alternatives for the museum's property south of West Jones Avenue. A new wing, linked by bridge to the main gallery, was proposed for gallery expansion, additional art storage, room for exhibit preparation and conservation, expanded registrar's spaces, a new 400-seat auditorium and a new central plant.
