Guy Jackson, AIA, Principal

Guy Jackson was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1947. He is the son and grandson of architects and builders, the great-grandson of a South Texas trail driver and the great-great-great-grandson of an officer in Sam Houston's army. ​He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rice University where he was a recipient of the William Marsh Rice Scholarship. Guy formed Jackson & Ryan Architects with Jeffrey D. Ryan in 1986 where, in addition to his duties as Managing Principal for the financial and administrative affairs of the firm, he maintains a full schedule as Principal in Charge and Design Principal for many of the firm's projects. Guy is a member of the American Institute of Architects, NCARB, Rice University Associates and the Rice Design Alliance. He is a former board member of the Association of Rice Alumni and maintains registration in 10 states. He was recently inducted into the Rice University Athletic Hall of Fame. He has been a visiting critic and juror at Rice University and the University of Houston. Along with his wife, Clare, and his daughter, Mary Catherine, Guy relaxes by supporting Rice University athletics. He is an avid golfer and outdoorsman, traveling regularly to Mexico, South Texas, Scotland, England and South America for sport.
